Ipl 2019 Auction 2 Worst Buys for Mumbai Indians

Three time title holder Mumbai Indians, who had Rs 11.15crore salary cap available for seven slots, includes one overseas players, roped in several young guns like Anmolpreet Singh(80L), Pankaj Jaiswal (20 L), Including the left-arm pacer Barindar Sran (3.4L). With one overseas slot available, they bought their old player Lasith Malinga, who used to be their game changer. At the last instance, they bought veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh (1cr).

Yuvraj and Malinga both are at the fag end of their cricketing career and here are the reasons why they are the worst buy for Rohit Sharma led-Mumbai Indians in this edition.

Yuvraj Singh:

The all-rounder was bought at the base price of Rs 1 crore in the last instance of the IPL 2019 players auction event. He has not been in the reckoning for a long time and has not been performing in the domestic circuit as well. In the previous edition , he played for punjab and didn't get as many runs and failed to live up to the team's exceptions. He scored only 65 runs off 8 matches and this made franchise to take decision of releasing him from the team . Though Mumbai's gap of having an experienced middle order
batsman can be filled by Yuvi on paper, but his awful form does not make his strong for the team.

Lasith Malinga:

The srilankan veteran paceris prone to picking up injuries and due to injuries he has also not been in the reckoning since past one year. He also missed 2018 edition, due to the same reason. Mumbai were short of bowling option and they had the best chance of buying some experienced overseas bowlers like Dale Steyn who made a fairytale comeback against Australia and is in a good form. Adding to the fact that jasprit Bumrah might miss the last phase matches due to World Cup,which is schedule immediatly after IPL, so Lasith Malinga does not match fit as far as the teams dynamics are connected either as a backup or additional pace option for them.
